Prodigal

When I was young, and free,
I thought my good intentions were pleasing.
I heard about you, read about you,
And from time to time,
Would sing about you, I was believing.

But I began to follow the crowd,
Just to please my friends.
My mind began to cloud,
And I found myself less with you to spend.

I don’t want to spend another day without you,
I wish to give you my all.
Draw me to the Father, on my knees I crawl.
Wasted years,
How I never listened to your call,
Lord,
I cry for forgiveness in tears,
Please deliver me from prodigal.

My heart is lament; I need a touch from you now,
Make me an instrument and teach me how.
For I want to do your will,
And please the Father.
Only you can fulfill,
The dreams and goals for my life,
There’s no other.

I don’t want to spend another day without you,
I wish to give you my all.
Draw me to the Father, on my knees I crawl.
Wasted years, how I never listened to your call,
Lord,
I cry for forgiveness in tears,
Please deliver me from prodigal.

I thought my good intentions were pleasing.
I heard about you, read about you,
And from time to time,
Would sing about you, I was believing.
