Just Like
We all been there before;
We walked down that lonely road,
Not knowing which way to go.

Many times we’ve failed the Lord,
Our hearts filled with a heavy load,
We felt the aching within our troubled soul.

We have this tendency to stray, to depart;
Our flesh wishes it and to leave the God we love.

We wish to obey;
Lord you know our hearts,
What motives and thoughts do we truly speak of?

Then I would read God’s word, and find someone I know,
That went through the same problems as us.

They found grace and favor, forgiveness that overflows;
It’s good to be set free by the power of His love.

For just like Abraham our faith gets tested,
Just like Moses we have lost our patience,

Just like Samson we have fallen short and lost our strength,
Just like King David, a man after God's own heart,
We’ve also made some bad mistakes.

Just like the prophet Elijah, we’ve been afraid and ran in fear,
Just like Jeremiah, we’ve cried day and night, with so many tears.

Just like Isaiah,
All of us have become like one who is unclean,
And all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;
Just like Jonah, we don’t want to forgive and show mercy,
We have also walked away from the Lord in defiance.

We have this tendency to stray, to depart;
Our flesh wishes it and to leave the God we love.

We wish to obey;
Lord you know our hearts,
What motives and thoughts do we truly speak of?

Then I would read God’s word, and find someone I know,
That went through the same problems as us.

They found grace and favor, forgiveness that overflows;
It’s good to be set free by the power of His love.

Just like the Samaritan women, we’ve searched for answers;
Just like the adulterous women, we received mercy and grace from the Father.

Just like the disciples, we’ve walked in pride, who would be the greatest they would ask?
Just like Peter, the Lord we’ve regrettably denied,
And wished we had professed, instead hide behind our masks.

Just like Thomas we’ve doubted and asked for proof of revelation.
Just like Paul’s sinful past, we too our forgiven,
Set free, with no condemnation.

Though our spirit is willing but our flesh is weak.
Were just like them no different than you and me,

We can still find grace and we can still find mercy.
Amazing, that there is a God who’s love still pursues me;

Who’s filled our emptiness with loving kindness, he is truly more than enough.
Our hearts are sealed with his forgiveness; it’s good to be set free by the power of His love.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me.I once was lost but now am found, was blind, but now I see.

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for thy courts above.

Psalms 86:5 (NIV)
You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you.
